Meet Us

As Fire Chief, I have the honor to work with a group of professional firefighters who are committed to providing the fire and life safety needs of our community.

Our first goal in the City of Linton Fire Department is to provide quality and professional service to our community in respect to saving and protecting lives and property through our EMS and firefighting efforts, as well as providing excellent services in fire prevention and education.

We offer more than just responding to emergencies. We reach out to our youth, by visiting the schools, pre-schools, and daycares. Other programs are made available to educate our youth as well as young adults and adults of all ages. These programs are extremely important as statistics show that the average person calls 911 only once in their lifetime, so these initial contacts will have a possible lifetime effect.

We hope you will join us by educating yourself and your family to be as fire safety conscious as possible.

I am honored to be Fire Chief for the City of Linton, as my father (Wendell Sparks) and my grandfather (Jack Allen) have done before me. The City of Linton is the largest city in Greene County, Indiana providing services to approximately 9,000 residents (Linton and Stockton Twp). We are the only career fire department in the county.

I could not imagine living or serving in a better community than Linton, Indiana.

Thank you for visiting and be safe!!

Sparky the Fire Dog®

The official mascot of NFPA, observed his 60th birthday in March 2011. Sparky, created in 1951 for an Advertising Council campaign, has always been an influential figure in fire prevention, and his success can be attributed to collaboration with firefighters and others to educate the public on important prevention and safety messages.

In addition to connecting with the public through public service announcements, Sparky makes a number of appearances as local parades and greets youngsters during special events at the Linton Fire Department.
